Safeguarding
Yalding St Peter and St Paul Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment.
At Yalding St Peter and St Paul Church of England Primary School, the health, safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we are committed to creating a safe, supportive and caring environment where all children feel secure, valued and heard.
It is important to us that our children feel listened to and respected. We take what pupils tell us seriously and encourage them to speak to trusted adults if they have any worries or concerns. All staff are trained in Child Protection and safeguarding procedures and are vigilant in recognising signs of physical abuse, emotional harm, neglect or any other safeguarding concern. Any concerns are reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - Mrs Lucy Jackson.
The procedures we follow are in line with guidance from the Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-Agency Partnership (KSCMP), and the school has adopted safeguarding and child protection policies accordingly to ensure the safety and welfare of all pupils.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will always aim to discuss concerns with parents and carers first before making any referrals, unless we believe that doing so may place the child at further risk or be contrary to the child’s welfare.

Photographs and Videos
We understand that many parents and carers enjoy seeing photographs and videos of their children taking part in school activities and events. However, we are very mindful of our duty of care towards all pupils and take safeguarding responsibilities regarding the use of images very seriously.
Any photographs or videos taken by parents, carers or relatives at school productions, sports days or other events are intended solely for the private enjoyment of individual families. They must not be shared publicly, published in print, uploaded online or posted on social networking sites if doing so could place a child at risk.
This expectation is communicated before school performances and events, and we ask all families to respect the privacy and safety of every child.
We recognise that in some circumstances parents or carers may not wish for their child to be photographed or videoed. Parents are able to update their preferences at any time by completing the school’s Use of Images Permission Form.
Occasionally, local media may be invited to photograph school events or achievements. The school may also use photographs of pupils on the school website, newsletters, display boards, school documents and promotional materials. If you do not wish your child’s image to be used in this way, please indicate this on the googleform that is shared with parents regarding the Use of Images.
