Admission Information

As a voluntary controlled school, Kent County Council is our admissions authority. You can contact their admissions team on 03000 41 21 21 for advice and guidance.

Kent County Council Primary Admissions Arrangements 2025-2026

Children can join the school in any year group, although the admissions process differs depending on whether your child is starting in Reception (Year R) or joining during Years 1–6. There are 24 spaces in each year group.

We warmly welcome visits to our school. These provide an opportunity to see the school in action and to find out more about our learning environment. To arrange a visit, please contact the school office on 01622 814298 or email office@yalding.kent.sch.uk

Reception Admissions

If your child is due to start school in Reception in the forthcoming September, applications must be made through Kent County Council (Kent.gov.uk).

The national closing date for applications is usually mid-January each year. Applications received after this date may be considered late and processed after on-time applications have been allocated.

Parents will be notified of the outcome of their application in April, on National Offer Day. At this point, you will be informed of the school place allocated to your child.

In-Year Admissions (Years 1–6)

For children wishing to join the school during the academic year, an in-year application must be completed. This form can be downloaded from the Kent County Council website or accessed via the link below:

In Year Admissions Form

Once submitted to the school, applications are considered in line with the school’s published admissions criteria. If a place is available, it may be offered directly. If the year group is full, your child will be placed on a waiting list.

If We Are Oversubscribed

If there are no places available in the requested year group, parents will be informed in writing. Your child can be added to the waiting list, which is maintained in accordance with the school’s admissions criteria and is regularly reviewed.

Parents also have the right to appeal against the decision not to offer a place. Appeals are handled independently through Kent County Council and must be submitted within the stated deadlines.
